How early should I place my order?Your cake order should be placed as soon as you finalize the details of your event (theme, colors, number of servings, design, etc.). We frequently book out weeks in advance, especially during the busy seasons. While 4-6 weeks advance notice (or earlier!) is recommended to avoid dissapointment, we will gladly fit you in if/when we can!

How much do your cakes cost?Cake prices vary based on size, intricacy of design, and amount of detail. A lot of time, planning, and experience go into each and every cake to make sure it will be the perfect centerpiece for your event! Fill out the Quote Request Form on the Contact Us page, or give us a call today for your consultation!

How do you determine cake size or how many tiers?During your consultation, I will ask how many guests your cake will need to serve. With that number, I will determine the adaquate cake size(s) based on the standard 1" x 2" x 4" serving slice for your desired cake shape. While this is a decent portion of cake, some like bigger slices...in this case, let me know, and we can plan for more cake!

Should I have my order delivered?Delivery is recommended for all 3+ tiered cakes and large sculpted cakes, or for weddings or events where you would like me to setup your order and/or arrange fresh flowers on site. I will coordinate the time with you to meet you or your representative to setup your cake. There is a $10 delivery/setup charge for all cakes delivered in the Middleport area. Out of town delivery is available at the following rates: .50 cents/mile to and from site, plus $20. This includes drive time and up to 15 minutes for setup. If additional time will be reqired to arrange flowers and or table displays, an additional fee may be incurred. This will be discussed during your consult!

Or should I pick up?If you choose to pick up your order, you assume all liabaility and resposibilty of your sweets once they leave Sweets By Jesika's possession. Tiered cakes will have supports inside, along with being chilled (when decor allows), prior to your pick up time to help ensure they travel well. Here are some helpful tips for safe transporting: -arrive in a vehicle large enough to fit your cake on a flat surface. Floorboards or SUV flatbed space is best. Seats and laps are NOT recommended as the cake could be angled and cause sliding of tiers or collapse! -go directly to your cakes final destination, and drive with extreme caution avoiding bumps as much as possibe. -the cake should stay below 72*F to avoid melting, do not place near floorboard heater. Use A/C when needed! If you are unsure or have questions, just ask!

How should I store/care for my cake? When transporting your cake please make sure you carry it with both hands under the bottom, being cautious to avoid pushing the sides of the box into the cake. Your cakes/cupcakes are best enjoyed at room temperature. Though fresh fruit, cream cheese buttercream, and some fillings should be refrigerated if holding overnight, for food safety. When determining where to place your cake/sweets, make sure to keep out of direct sunlight and warmer temperatures near windows to avoid melting. Your cake should stay below 72*F for integrety and freshness. Be sure to place your cake on an even, level, sturdy surface. You don't want it toppling over should someone bump the table!

How should I cut my cake? Here is a cutting guide for your round or square cakes. If you have different shaped cake tiers, I can provide you with an appropriate cutting guide to help ensure you get all of your servings! Cutting smaller or larger slices than the 1" x 2" size will result in more or less servings per cake than listed. If you know you will want bigger slices for your event, no problem! Mention it during your consult and we can adjust your cake sizes to accomodate.
